Managed Backup

The Managed Backup add-on automatically backs up your POS database to secure cloud storage every night. If your server fails, your data is safe and recoverable.

How It Works

Every night, automatically:

1. A complete copy of your database is created
2. It's compressed to save space
3. It's uploaded securely to cloud storage
4. The upload is verified with a checksum

Nothing to configure or check — it runs in the background.

Retention

Backups are kept for 21 days. Each night's backup is stored separately, so you can restore from any point within the last three weeks. Older backups are automatically removed.

Schedule

Backups run daily at 2 AM local time (when your restaurant is typically closed). The exact start is randomized within a 30-minute window to spread load across all customers.

Backups don't affect POS operations — orders can be taken while a backup is running.

Restoring from Backup

To restore:

1. Contact support with your restaurant name and the date to restore from
2. We retrieve your backup and provide a download link
3. Import the backup into your system

Restores are typically completed within a few hours during business hours.

WARNING

Restoring a backup replaces all current data with the data from that date. Any orders, menu changes, or settings made after the backup date will be lost.

Requirements

• On-Prem POS — Managed Backup is available on On-Prem plans only
• Internet connection — for the nightly upload
• License with the Backup feature enabled

Data Security

• Backups are encrypted during transfer (HTTPS)
• Stored in private cloud storage — not publicly accessible
• Only accessible by our support team for authorized restores
• Your backup data is separate from other restaurants

Checking Backup Status

Log in to portal.moneta-pay.app, go to Licenses and select your restaurant to see your backup status.

If a backup fails (e.g., internet outage), the system retries the next night. Missing a single night is not a problem — you still have 20 other daily backups available.
