Groups & Roles
Configure permission groups and assign roles for access control.
Overview
Groups & Roles is the RBAC (role-based access control) management page. Groups contain roles, and users belong to groups. This determines what each user can see and do in the dashboard and POS.
Use this page to:
- View existing groups and their assigned roles
- Create custom groups with specific permissions
- Understand what each role grants access to

This page is available to Admin users only.
What You'll See
Default Groups
| Group | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to all dashboard and POS features |
| Cashier | POS operations and limited reporting |
| Operator | Operational management — reports, catalog, people, setup |
Roles
Each group contains one or more roles that grant specific permissions. Roles control access to individual features and API endpoints.
How It Works
- Roles define individual permissions (e.g., "view reports", "manage menu")
- Groups bundle roles together (e.g., "Admin" group has all roles)
- Users are assigned to groups via the Users page
- When a user logs in, their group's roles determine what they can access
WARNING
Changes to group roles take effect on the user's next login. Users who are currently logged in will continue with their existing permissions until they log out and back in.
